Lesley and I were delighted with Guy's performance today, we could not be prouder of him and all that he acheives. And proving his worth as a sire as his daughter, Ch. Indy wins the BCC and a repeat of the Crufts win! This time Guy claims BOB and a very resepctable shortlist to the final 7 in the Working Group under Marion Sargent. Thanks to Phil Kirby for thinking so highly of our Danes and breeding!

Crufts 2026! Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy 1st Open Dog & DCC #80 (Jr. Cr. Ch. Am. Ch. King Arthur De Casaarabal x Ch. Selmalda ZiZi’s Journey J.W.) Lesley and I could not be prouder of Guy and all that he acheives. And proving his worth as a sire as his daughter, Ch. Indy wins BCC & BOB (& Group4!) for owner Mick Stanton and handled by Paula Chibeba! Thanks to Chris for the photo and of course Mandy Bithell for thinking so highly of our Danes and breeding! Delighted with judge Mandy Bithell's critique following Guy's Cruft's win - OD (13,3) 1 Chappell's Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy (ai) I believe this was this record-breaking Brindle boys ‘80th’ CC! What a tremendous achievement & every bit deserving of that accolade. Shouts ‘All male Great Dane,’ standing firm, muscular & sound. Balanced & flowing throughout. I doubt there’s anything I can say or add, that hasn’t already been said before. He commands the ring with his striking outline & majestic, regal appearance. Rich in colour & superb muscular condition. Head of good proportions, with broad muzzle & square drop of lip. Would like to see him use his ears more, with ‘Dash & Dare’ which would set off the finishing touch. He fills his front with excellent depth & width, standing on firm legs & feet, with toenails clipped to perfection. This certainly helps the appearance of his tight, cat-like feet. Elbows tucked neatly under his nicely rounded spring of rib, giving off a flowing appearance, with the required ‘tuck-up.’ Strong arched neck, which flows into well angulated shoulders & excellent return of upper arm. Firm topline, with excellent croup & tail set. Well angulated hind quarters, well-muscled 2nd thigh & low set hocks which he knows how to drive from, as he powers round the ring. Correct footfall when viewed from all angles. His handler certainly knows how to get the best out of him. Both owning the large ring with presence & style. Shown in sound condition, with handler, perfectly suited to compliment his dog. I was pleased to award him the Dog CC. Did I mention, it was his 80th!? Just wow. Congratulations.

A great start to 2026 at Manchester GCS and a super entry for Patsy Hollings (61/67) with an early start to ensure we were ringside! Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy 1st Open Dog & DCC #79 (Jr. Cr. Ch. Am. Ch. King Arthur De Casaarabal X Ch. Selmalda ZiZi’s Journey J.W.) Guy also claimed a very respectable 3rd in the Eukanuba Champion Stakes - thanks Tom Mather. Selmalda My Wild Flame (pictured) 1st Puppy B. & Best Puppy In Breed (GCH AM Ch. Casaarabal's The EstherChild x Ch. Selmalda Oh Lori) Lesley and I are, as ever, proud as punch, with how our Danes conduct themselves and lovely to have Debbie with us to witness the hard work that she contributes to! What a great day at the Midland & West of England GDC Championship Show where judges Arne Foss and Elizabeth Bugge Olsen (Paper Moon) assessed the largest entry of the 2025 campaign! Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy 1st Open Dog, DCC & RBIS/BOS (Jr. Cr. Ch. Am. Ch. King Arthur De Casaarabal X Ch. Selmalda ZiZi’s Journey J.W.) Selmalda My Wild Flame 2nd Minor Puppy B. (GCH AM Ch. Casaarabal's The EstherChild x Ch. Selmalda Oh Lori) Lesley and I were chuffed to bits with how both Guy and Flame performed, Guy claiming his 78th CC! Even better news was that Guy's daughter, Goldania's Diva Princess won her third and crowning CC, along with BIS, for owners Mick Stanton and handled by Paula Chibeba - many congratulations, his second Champion offspring! As always a massive thanks to Tammy for the photograph and of course Debbie, back home, who makes this all possible. Congratulations to all the other winners on the day!

We had a wonderful time at the South Western GDC's Top 12 weekend in Gloucester. For the fourth consecutive year Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy was top points (male) and was delighted to receive a commemorative engraved mementoe as a keepsake reflecting this achievement. The secret judge was announced as Ed Forsey who duly awarded Guy number one place in the Super League (Dog). Up against the respective Bitch winner Ed duly awarded Guy the Top 12 Super League OVERALL WINNER accolade, his third in four years!

King Arthur De Casaarabel X Ch. Selmalda ZiZi’s Journey J.W.) Selmalda My Wild Flame 1st Minor Puppy B. (GCH AM Ch. Casaarabal's The EstherChild x Ch. Selmalda Oh Lori) Lesley and I were delighted with how Flame took to the show scene and appreciate all the positive, kind comments about her. Needless to say it's great to have Guy back out following a short break, doing what he does best! A special thanks to Working Group judge Maggi Bryant (Panelma) who shortlisted Guy right down to his final 8 and eventually awarding him Working Group 4! Working Group Judge Maggi Bryant's critique - Group 4 Great Dane, Chappell's Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy, I had two dogs for this final position, over which I liked, but today this boy went out with his strong movement the last time I moved them. Lovely strong boy of great proportions, balanced, masculine head, noble expression, what a reach of neck into a completely balanced body, good rib spring moved with strength and purpose, retaining his topline at all times, well handled and I loved his colour and marking, I could not deny him this place.

Selmalda ZiZi’s Journey J.W.) Lesley and I sincerely appreciate all the positive, kind comments on all that Guy achieves and to those who stayed behind to supprt us in the Group! A special thanks to Working Group judge Paul Harding who considered Guy right down to his final 8. Also, thank you to both Tammy and Annette for the photographs and of course those back home who make this all possible. Judge Jill Cranfield's critique - OD (2) 1st Chappell's Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy. Well what can you say about this dog that hasn't already been said? When I got my hands on him I could see why he is our Breed Record Holder, beautifully marked dark Brindle, he has the kindest expression with correct head planes and a super dark eye, well arched neck, correct front and rear angulation, holding his topline stood and on the move, moved well. DCC & BOB and was pleased to hear he was shortlisted later in the Group.

The parent club, the oldest Great Dane Club in the world - The Great Dane Club. Always an honour to exhibit at this show and even more rewarding when you come out on top. Judge John Purnell awarded Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy 1st in Open Dog and ultimately, in the challenge, the CC. Along with co-judge Glynn Payne they unanimously agreed that he should be BEST IN SHOW.

From Paignton we headed to Crick to commence with the Festival Weekend and first up was the Great Dane Breeders & Owners Association Championship Show. Appointed judge Dr. Ronald James not only awarded Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy 1st in Open Dog but also presented him with his 73rd Challenge Certificate! Guy was eventual RBIS and BOS!

It was a long haul to Paignton but certainly reaped the rewards. Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy was awarded his 72nd CC and eventual BOB from breed judge Kris Kingsley. It was her first time out post litter for Ch. Selmalda Oh Lori and chuffed to bits when she topped Open and was preesented with the RBCC. Onto the Working Group and following a shortlist down to the final eight from judge Jeff Horswell we really couldn't have been happier when he gave the nod to him for Group 2! Excellent.

Many thanks and appreciation to our judge today and for the ringside applause, support and great comments. Judge Cath Moffat's critique OD (4,1) 1st Chappell's Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy. Brindle male of 4 years, masculine strong head with correct muzzle and good lip, high set ears and soft eye with lovely expression, straight legs with excellent flat bone and correct feet, good depth of brisket with a pleasing forechest, sound in topline with lovely angulation fore and aft, well sprung rib and short loin, he moved out well with a steady and efficient gait. Another super, long, day this time at SKC Championship Dog Show where Bridgette Bodle was appointed with an entry of 44 Danes. Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy 1st Open Dog, DCC & BOB (Jr. Cr. Ch. Am. Ch. King Arthur De Casaarabel X Ch. Selmalda ZiZi’s Journey J.W.) Lesley again couldnt be there today however we are both extremely proud of what Guy achieved today. Many thanks and appreciation for the ringside applause, support and great comments. Again many thanks to Kat for capturing the moment. Congratulations to all the other winners on the day! Judge Bridgette Bodle's critique - OD (7,2) 1st & DCC, BOB Chappell's Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy, a 4 year old well marked Brindle presented in super condition, striking and balanced in outline with a well proportioned head, good fill under the eye, broad muzzle and square lips, strong arched neck and long well laid shoulders. He stands true in front on strong oval bone and good feet, I particularly liked the flow from his neck through to withers and firm level topline and his well developed, but not overdone forechest and depth of chest. On the move he goes easily and accurately around the ring.

Our appointed judge Joe Smith had attracted an entry of 56 exhibits and cannot thank him highly enough for Guy's awards. Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy 1st Open Dog, DCC & BOB (Jr. Cr. Ch. Am. Ch. Whilst Lesley couldnt be there today we are both extremely proud of Guy and all that he achieves and pass on our thanks and appreciation for the ringside applause, support and great comments. Thank you also to the Working Group judge Graham Hill who shortlisted him down to the final 8. Judge Joe Smith's critique - OD (5) 1 Chappell's Ch Selmalda Jealous Guy, 4 year old dark brindle now at his peak. Classic outline standing, balanced masculine headpiece, super neck and front assembly, excellent bone. Soundly made body, held his topline on the move, well handled to show off all his virtues, Dog CC and Best Of Breed.
