At City of Birmingham Liz Cartledge judged the breed. It didnt get off to the best of starts as our Junior World Winner 10, Selmalda Im Yours, owned in partnership with John, Heather and Candice Dyson, was unplaced in Junior - there is a first for everything! Selmalda I Am Rock J.W. topped a cracking Limit dog class, Judy Thurlby with Selmalda Dream Baby Dream At Justinian was third in Junior and our own Selmalda Rock Ola Baby J.W. was second in Limit. However the Selmalda team of Rocco, Ola, Ralf and Daisy won the Breeders class and then won the Working Breeders Group overall under Terry Nethercott, beating off stiff competition! Many thanks for all the support and words of encouragement ringside and to our own photographer extraordinaire Judi Cottam! Judge Liz Cartledge wrote about Rocco afterwards - His good side movement won him the class. Well proportioned head, good length of foreface, strong hindquarters which he put to good use when moving, ample bone, well sprung ribs, well conditioned and handled.
Jeff Luscott officiated at WKC. Selmalda Im Yours was second in his Junior dog class, the same position Selmalda I Am Rock JW achieved in his Limit class. Rocco was called back into the ring to challenge for the RCC which he was duly awarded. In bitches Selmalda Rock Ola Baby JW topped a huge Limit class and Ch. Selmalda She Looks To Me Through Samdice JW was second in Open. Lola also made the cut in a huge, three group, Champion Stakes class. Lolas critique appeared in the dog press later and read - beautiful Fawn with harmonious balance and size, substance yet still feminine and elegant, strong arched neck, high set withers, good front and chest, lay of shoulder and length of upper arm, good width and depth to chest, good depth to brisket, well sprung ribs giving good width and depth through body, good croup and tailset, good width of thigh, beautiful head with good parallel head planes, good length to foreface, defined stop and clean backskull, excellent pigmentation, good eye shape and beautiful expression, moved with good front reach and drives well from hocks covering ground well, another with dash and dare, beautifully handled as you would expect from this handler.
Always a relaxed atmosphere at this show and we managed to get our tents ringside which kept the dogs cool and comfortable. Anne Morris judged the dogs and Selmalda Im Yours JWW10 topped a cracking Junior dog class, this dog is maturing very nicely and is becoming a force to be reckoned with. Selmalda I Am Rock JW was placed second in Limit dog and eventually won the RCC, his fifth! Lets just say the bitches didnt fair as well under Pat Jacobs! Again we topped the Breeders class with Ola, Rocco, Lola and Ralf and our continued appreciation to the Dysons for their support in this competition. Judge Anne Morris wrote about Ralf - Compact Fawn who stands foresquare, good head with dark eyes and mask with a kind expression, well made all through with good balance in angles with back and loin length to compliment, nice croup and flat boned legs on tight feet, moves animatedly, an honest youngster.
After topping the Breeders class in the breed under Ann Jacobs the team of Lola, Rocco, Ralf and Ola claimed first place in the Working Breeders Group under Kari Wilberg.

It was great to meet up with all our friends there, including Maibritt and Dorthe from Denmark and Fiona and Marion from Ireland. We had a broad smile as we went to collect our awards for Top Stud Dog 09 and Top Working Puppy 09! Nice one!
We only took bitches to the Northern and pleased to see Judy & Stuart Thurlby with Daisy, Selmalda Dream Baby Dream At Justinian, win the Puppy class. Team Selmalda also won the Breeders class!
What a wonderful day we had at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire at the Dog World/Purina Pro Plan Pup Of The Year Final. Selmalda I Am Rock JW, following his qualification in July 09 at Working Breeds, was the only Dane representative and of course he received loads of attention as we prepared for the judging. Brenda Banbury was the nominated judge and unfortunately for the large breeds the marquee where the dogs were to be examined was rather restrictive. However Rocco did us proud and put his best foot forward! Go Rocco!
